How to file with Canara Bank
From the bank's published export policy and other sources, checked 2026-10-04. Banks are still settling their procedures, so confirm with your branch.
How to submit
-
Branch, with processing at Global Trade Processing Centre (GTPC) reported
Framework: inward trade remittances trigger mails to customer and branch for disposal instructions; GTPC compliance verifies documents. No explicit services-EDF submission channel published.
Source
Documents the bank may ask for
- Customer request with FEMA declarations verified
- Disposal instruction verified
- Underlying documents (contract / agreement / PO / proforma invoice) verified
- EDF / Shipping Bill (listed for export bill realisation) verified
- IEC needed?
- Not confirmed. Ask your bank
- Timing
- Framework TATs: routine inward credit is same business day if received in market hours with complete documents; export realisation (credit plus EDPMS update) is 2 business days. Inwards are returned if the beneficiary does not respond for 7 business days. No services-EDF timeline beyond the Regulations.
- Charges
- Forex schedule w.e.f. 02.02.2026: export bill charge from INR 100 (up to INR 1 lakh) to INR 1,000 (above INR 10 lakh); advance remittance towards export Nil up to INR 50,000, INR 300 above; FIRC/e-FIRC certificate INR 500; e-BRC INR 75 (legacy cases). No services-EDF line. Whether the export-bill slab applies to services EDFs is not stated.
- FIRA / FIRC
- FIRC/e-FIRC certificate INR 500 (02.02.2026 schedule). Non-export inward: Nil for individuals.
- Declaring the purpose code
- Purpose code is identified by GTPC compliance 'based on narration mentioned in swift copy, and documents provided by the customer'. Personal inwards up to USD 10,000 are processed STP. Above that, and all trade remittances, the customer and branch are emailed for disposal instructions. Funds may be returned after 7 business days without a response.
Recommendations
- Watch for Canara's email/SMS asking for disposal instructions on a foreign credit and reply within 7 business days, or the funds may be returned.
- State the services purpose code explicitly in the disposal instruction rather than relying on the SWIFT narration.
- Ask the branch where to submit the monthly EDF (branch vs GTPC email); Canara has not published this.
- For PA/platform payouts that arrive as domestic INR credits (Wise/Skydo/Razorpay/Payoneer/PayPal), keep the provider's FIRA/e-FIRC and ask the bank how it wants them mapped to the EDF; no bank in this group publishes a rule for this.
