Recommendations

  • Confirm at a branch that ESAF will accept trade/export remittances into an individual's account and take monthly services EDFs before relying on it.
  • Ask for the Reg. 19 export policy; it could not be checked online.
  • Ask your branch or relationship manager how it wants the monthly EDF for services. Most banks take it at the branch or through the relationship manager; business customers may be able to use a trade portal.
  • Ask whether it accepts PAN when you don't have an IEC.
  • Take the printed EDF, the covering letter, copies of the invoices and any FIRA / e-FIRC.
  • Your bank must publish its export policy on its website (Reg. 19). Look for "export" or "FEMA" policy documents there.
