Declaring the purpose code
Form 'Disposal Instructions for Handling Inward Remittance (For Clean and Export Remittance)': Part A has beneficiary details, purpose of remittance and purpose code (FETERS list annexed) and disposal to SB/CA/CC/OD/EEFC. Part B is for export remittances (advance / collection / direct dispatch). It includes FEMA, OFAC and export declarations. Stamp and seal are mandatory only for non-individuals.

Recommendations

  • Use IDBI's 'Disposal Instructions for Handling Inward Remittance' form and enter the services purpose code (e.g. P0802/P1006) in Part A.
  • Expect individual FC inwards to be free under the 2019 schedule (13.2 'For individual customers: Free'), but advance-against-export inwards attract INR 1,000. Confirm current charges.
  • Ask your home branch whether it is an AD (forex) branch; if not, ask which mapped AD/forex branch handles your EDF and inward remittances, and get the email address in writing.
  • File one consolidated EDF per month (Annex form of FEMA 23(R)/2026-RB) with an invoice-wise annexure, within 30 days after the invoice month; keep the bank's acknowledgement/EDF number.
  • For PA/platform payouts that arrive as domestic INR credits (Wise/Skydo/Razorpay/Payoneer/PayPal), keep the provider's FIRA/e-FIRC and ask the bank how it wants them mapped to the EDF; no bank in this group publishes a rule for this.
  • Ask your branch or relationship manager how it wants the monthly EDF for services. Most banks take it at the branch or through the relationship manager; business customers may be able to use a trade portal.
  • Ask whether it accepts PAN when you don't have an IEC.
  • Take the printed EDF, the covering letter, copies of the invoices and any FIRA / e-FIRC.
  • Your bank must publish its export policy on its website (Reg. 19). Look for "export" or "FEMA" policy documents there.
